Week 3

Leadership pre-reading (Conditions for classroom technology innovations)
- technology must be used to have an impact of learning
Factors that affect classroom technology uses
The innovator
-’ technology proficiency’ - need to have a comprehensive knowledge, especially if something goes wrong.
- ‘compatibility between teacher pedagogical beliefs and the technology’ - more reflective teachers able to adapt and be flexible more. More successful when seen as a “means to an end, rather than an end itself.”
- ‘Social awareness’ - know social dynamics of the school, know who to go to for different support and ideas. Know potential for problems and know how to get through these with help from others too.
The innovation
- ‘distance from school culture’
- ‘distance from existing practice’ - “most successful were a variation of a project previously completed by the teacher.”
- ‘distance from available technological resources’
- ‘Dependence on others’
- ‘Dependence on technological resources’
The Context

- ‘Social support’
